It's Not Easy Being #1

The Baseball Writers Association of America announced Friday that White Sox relief pitcher Barry Obama will receive the Cy Young Award for the American League for 2009. The prestigious award goes to the southpaw after his "brilliant performance" in the opening game of the 2009 season.

A spokesperson for the association said that their only regret is that they don't award a peace prize as well, or he'd be "a shoe-in."

The American Restaurant Association, however, is considering awarding its 2009 Iron Chef Award to the Chicago native for his remarkable technique of raising the temperature of tap water to the point where steam is visible, a technique Mr. Obama humbly refers to as "boiling water."

  1. I should add that the comments about the Cy Young Award and Kanye West are not original, but were heard from 2 consecutive callers on the nationally-syndicated Dennis Miller radio programme on Friday.
